Understanding the differences between High Pressure Laminate and Thermally Fused Melamine

These products are in use everywhere, in multitudes of applications and environments. So how do you know which product is appropriate—and why?

The term "High Pressure Laminate" may not be familiar, but say the word Formica or Wilsonart, and every designer can immediately picture the material that has literally been used for decades. Less well known is a low-pressure laminate called Thermally Fused Melamine, which was developed by European manufacturers some 35 years ago.
