KML HPL Panels
High Pressure Laminate panels ideal for high-use surfaces
In addition to our DesignLam (KML’s industry-leading Thermally-Fused Melamine – aka TFM – panels), KML also produces High Pressure Laminate (HPL) bonded panels.
Our exceptionally durable HPL is ideal for high-traffic surfaces such as school desks, countertops and more.
We understand that your projects may require both HPL and TFM and make it easy for you to source both from the same vendor. For example, a restaurant may need HPL for counters or tabletops but TFM for wall or door panels or other custom fixtures.
KML purchases laminate from all leading suppliers including WilsonArt, Formica, Arborite, Nevamar, Pionite, LaminArt and Abet Laminati.

HPL vs. TFM
What is the Difference?
HPL
- High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is essentially the original plastic laminate
- Produced by saturating decorative paper with multiple layers of kraft paper and phenolic resin
TFM
- KML’s DesignLam surfaces are Thermally-Fused Melamine (TFM)
- Produced by laying melamine-saturated paper directly onto the substrate & using heat & pressure to literally fuse it onto the core, creating a uni-layer surface (vs. multi-layer as with HPL)
